OriginsBorn in the Fields of Taiwan
Born in 1937 in a small farming village in Taiwan, Wang Shunde grew up working the land alongside his family. It was a humble beginning — but one that quietly shaped the curious, determined mind that would one day change the world of natural health.
After graduating from Chung Cheng University, he returned to teach agriculture at Shishui Agricultural College, where his attention was drawn to a quiet but powerful subject: algae cultivation.

DiscoveryNASA, Hawaii & the Science of the Future
Professor Wang flew to the University of Hawaii to deepen his research — and found himself at the heart of one of the most exciting scientific moments in history. NASA, in collaboration with several universities, was studying algae as a sustainable food source for astronauts in space.
He volunteered and was hired into the project, spending three years contributing to that pioneering research before returning to Taiwan in 1967 with a singular mission: to unlock the potential of algae for human health.

Two Decades of Struggle
What followed was decades of struggle. He sold his properties to fund his research. His family questioned him. His neighbours mocked him. His factory burned to the ground overnight. Financial backers came and went.
But Professor Wang never stopped. In 1987, after twenty years of relentless research alongside Dr. Huang Tan Si from the Institute of Botany, his perseverance finally produced something the world had never seen.

BreakthroughThe King of Algae — W87-10
A unique strain of Chlorella Sorokiniana, designated W87-10. It was recognised by Dr. Su Yiren from Taiwan's National Institutes of Health as a top-grade health food — and nicknamed the King of Algae.
In 2004, research confirmed this strain was naturally rich in PPARs active agents — the only known natural source of all three PPARs. In 2005, it became the first algae-based product to receive official national health food certification from the Taiwanese government.
